The first successful photograph was captured in 1826 by Niepce. Later, he and Daguerre formed a partnership.

The Daguerrotype was given free of patents, to the world in 1839.

In spite of the complicated and even dangerous, procedures, millions of portraits and images of the world around were made by the new profession of Photographers.
