1992 – Leaf DCB I, II (Digital Camera Back)
This back, nicknamed the Brick, was attached to a Hasselblad medium format camera.
The Loran sensor of 2048 X 2048 pixels had a physical size of 40 X40 mm.
The sensor was B&W, but color photography was enabled by taking 3 shots in succession using a rotary color wheel with red, green and blue filters.
The sensor was actively cooled to zero degrees C. to reduce noise (visual).

I must have bought at least 20 of these for our gravure customers who were retailers and wanted to do their own color. Hills Department Stores in Canton MA, Venture department stores in St. Louis, MO. We purchase IRIS inkjet printers, and install fiber networks – at Venture, we has the Mac and Cameras on Carts with fiber in the conduit – how things have changed !
My buddy Yossi Ben-Shoshan was my savior back then !
Cool to hear about the old days. I worked at Scitex/Creo/Kodak in Leaf R&D until 4 years ago.
